AWAY AT LAST!!!

EVENTUALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......  WE ARE AWAY.


After a few false starts (new springs on vehicle & awaiting medical reports) we  leave Gma's house on 20th May. First night in FREEEEEZING &; wet Lithgow then onto Lightning Ridge to see Phil Diane &; Girls...  All good there.  Cassie is the spitting image of  Aunty Fiona when young. Sammie is more like Di but I can still see the "Cleathero" stamp on her.


Weather is warmer and fine for next couple of days but more rain appears and prevents us from entering the Expedition National Park ( 100ks east of Carnarvon).  The road was washed away in the big rains earlier in the year. Disappointing ......  but we visited Lake Murphy Conservation Park...  Great spot to stay..went for a walk coming back 3-4 cms taller.. mud caked to our boots.  That night we camped at Isla Gorge..  beautiful view ...especially from the back of Geri.


Thanks to the new springs we are RIDING HIGH....!!!! This is fine but the back ladder does not always touch the ground ...sooooooo  we need to be more mindful as to where we pull up or look for rocks....


These first 10 days we are just settling into the travelling routine.  A few "loud debates"  but not too bad.  The emotions (mine) go up and down.  After Emerald I feel better we re-packed Geri and stored some stuff.   WE PACKED FAR TOO MUCH this time.  Also had a good couple of nights with people from Dysaght who work in the mines...  They were stocking up to do the Gibb River Road for the second time so we picked their brain..


Baz not happy with vehicle... Drives well 90-95 but temp rises some when travel at 100ks!!!!  Having it checked at Charters Towers!!!
